Israel has gone through three parliamentary elections in the last thirteen months. The 35th Israeli cabinet has 36 ministers and has been formed as a result of the agreement between Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu and head of the Blue and White party Benny Gantz. What is behind the dry numbers? Has the political situation in Israel really stabilized? Dr. Ronen Hoffman, former MK, fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute's Middle East program, addresses these questions to help us better understand the nature of the agreement between the parties forming the government coalition and what that means for domestic policies. We also examine how the new government may want to shape its foreign policy, specifically with regard to President Trump’s Peace Plan for Israel and the Palestinians. And how it can affect Israel’s bilateral relations with the U.S. and its relationship with the European Union.
