Representative John Lewis (GA-5) passed away from Stage 4 pancreatic cancer on July 17, 2020. His life and relationship with the Jewish community are being commemorated by many in the Atlanta community, including Sherry Frank, former director of AJC Atlanta. Rabbi Peter Berg, senior Rabbi at The Temple, said: “John Lewis taught us all that the world will not fix itself, that if we want to make a difference, we have to stand up and be counted.”
