German Civic Leaders Receive Award for Extraordinary Achievements
Düzen Tekkal and Derviş Hizarci were both awarded the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for their work in advancing democratic coexistence and combating antisemitism. The Order of Merit is awarded to Germans as well as foreigners for achievements in the political,
economic, social or intellectual realm, and for all kinds of outstanding services to Germany in the field of social, charitable or philanthropic work.
