Remarkable Number of Project Interchange Alumni Assume New Positions in the Biden Administration
Twenty-six Project Interchange alumni have been named to vital roles in the new Biden Administration, including two Cabinet-level positions and three ambassadorships. Some of those new administration appointees include Secretary Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Mayors 2018, who is now Secretary of Transportation. Alejandra Castillo, National Latina Leaders 2010, named as Assistant Secretary for Economic Development, Department of Commerce. Joelle Gamble, California Student Leaders 2010, is now Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy. Mayor Eric Garcetti, U.S. Mayors 2019, was appointed as the US Ambassador to India. Jake Sullivan, University Editors 1996, holds the position of National Security Advisor, and Emmy Ruiz, Latino Political Advisors 2017, is Director of Political Strategy and Outreach.
