ACCESS NY
Empowering Today’s Young Jewish Leaders
ACCESS NY is a community of young Jewish leaders in New York that supports AJC’s mission of combating antisemitism, promoting Israel’s place in the world, and countering the spread of radicalism and extremism, through building relationships and forming alliances with a diverse range of diplomatic and community partners. Through our innovative programming, robust leadership training, and hard-hitting advocacy, ACCESS NY provides a platform through which to engage a young generation of leadership for global Jewish advocacy.
Leadership in Action
Global Reach: ACCESS NY brings together young leaders in New York with representatives from around the world for cultural and advocacy programming. By engaging with Permanent Representatives and Consuls General from 110 nations, ACCESS NY leaders gain global perspectives on important international issues and advocate for global Jewry. In New York City, Annual programs like our Hanukkah Celebration at the Austrian Consulate and Diplomatic Social bring diplomats and young Jewish professionals together to build bridges and exchange ideas. Globally, our annual travel opportunities—including trips to Japan, Morocco, and Germany—allow for on-the-ground learning and action. Learn more about our ACCESS missions here.
Interfaith and Intergroup Work: Through active outreach efforts and collaborative programming with our Latino, Muslim, Black, and Asian American partners, ACCESS NY builds relationships with young professionals from diverse religious, ethnic, and racial backgrounds to explore issues of mutual importance. ACCESS NY’s signature Project Understanding Retreat is one of two AJC regions in the country focused on Black-Jewish relations in the context of fighting hate and uplifting the pride in each community, building strong relationships between young Jewish professionals and young Black professionals. Through working with the New York Muslim-Jewish Advisory Council and organizations such as Committee of 100 and the Chinese-American Planning Council, ACCESS NY is leading the way in interfaith and intergroup work in the young Jewish professional sphere of New York City.
Legislative Outreach: From the halls of Congress to the State Assembly chambers of Albany, ACCESS NY works to move the needle on AJC’s priorities with elected officials. AJC New York’s annual Albany Day mission to the state capital mobilizes members of our ACCESS community, as well as AJC’s National Leadership Council Fly-In to Washington, D.C. Our signature bipartisan advocacy with City Council and the Governor’s Office, off-the-record meetings in NYC, and maintaining relationships with elected officials at all levels of government allow ACCESS NY leaders to effectively advocate on behalf of AJC’s mission.
Leadership Development: ACCESS is committed to supporting and encouraging the next generation of Jewish leaders. Whether through our innovative ACCESS Leadership Fellowship (ALEF) sessions, diplomatic and legislative trainings, or our annual State-to-State programming, ACCESS NY strives to give our leaders the tools they need to succeed.
