AJC's Atlanta office is excited to be hiring an Alexander Young Leadership Associate.
Alexander Associates are a critical component of AJC Atlanta and AJC’s Alexander Young Leadership departments. Alexander Associates work with community leader volunteers in their twenties and thirties. These AJC activists, are members of ACCESS, AJC’s young professional division, as well as high school and college students — to shape the future of global Jewish advocacy.
Positioned within AJC Atlanta, the Alexander Associate will work collaboratively with the Atlanta regional office and the national Alexander Young Leadership team to grow opportunities for students and young professionals locally and nationally.
The Alexander Associate will do all this while adhering to AJC’s core values: Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence, and Accountability.
Who You Are
- A person who enjoys empowering and cultivating the leadership skills of others, facilitating collaboration across different stakeholders with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work on many projects simultaneously and effectively, including under pressure, to make difficult decisions and follow through on agreed-upon initiatives
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
- Adept at time management with the ability to manage several projects at one time
- A natural event planner, able to prepare, set-up, and put away physical materials including large displays and equipment at indoor and outdoor events.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff and lay leadership
- Someone who has respect for and interest in working with diverse faith and ethnic communities
- Comfortable soliciting people for financial support of AJC (no previous fundraising experience required).
- Aligned with AJC’s mission and diplomatic style, with knowledge and passion for the organization’s key issues (including Israel, world Jewry, human rights, international relations, foreign policy, and democratic institutions)
- An entrepreneurial mindset; able to identify and pursue opportunities
- Enthusiastic about learning new skills and topics. Able to identify and pursue opportunities
- Available to work evenings and weekends regularly and to travel occasionally
- A team player with a sense of humor
- Fluency in social media
- Holder of a Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of professional experience
What You’ll Do
ACCESS
- Identify phenomenal Jewish young professionals, engage them in ACCESS, and transform them into leaders in AJC and financial supporters of AJC’s mission
- Identify, cultivate, and steward ACCESS donors towards AJC's philanthropic efforts, and work closely with the Director of Development to solicit new and existing ACCESS gifts for the AJC annual campaign
- Work with and manage the regional ACCESS Atlanta Board to support their advocacy, program development and financial contributions to AJC
- Implement and plan ACCESS programs, meetings, and events in close coordination with regional and ACCESS Global professionals
- Work with ACCESS leadership to strengthen AJC Atlanta’s interfaith and interethnic coalition building
- Recruit ACCESS supporters to attend AJC Global Forum
- Develop and expand joint advocacy and diplomatic opportunities with community partners from other religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds
- Support ACCESS engagement with elected officials and diplomats through advocacy meetings and programming
- Working with local AJC team on regional programs, events, and strategic initiatives that pertain to young leaders.
Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT)
- facilitating and supporting AJC’s Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) program for high school students
- Attend and participate in the annual LFT staff retreat for LFT Facilitators in Washington D.C.
- Spearhead recruitment of AJC’s Leaders for Tomorrow program for high school students
- Co-manage the LFT committee comprised of AJC Atlanta board members and LFT parents
- Support and facilitate seven yearly LFT sessions focused on issues related to Jewish advocacy, including antisemitism, Israel, and Jewish identity.
- Support the growth of LFT alumni by co-managing the LFT alumni advisory board
Campus Affairs
- Establish and maintain close ties with local colleges and universities—including Hillel staff and students—in support of AJC’s Campus Affairs work
- Build relationships with student activists and empower their response to situations that may arise
- Speak to campus groups about Jewish advocacy issues
- Recruit campus leaders to attend AJC Global Forum
The Alexander Associate may be asked to perform additional tasks as directed by the Director of AJC Atlanta.
What You’ll Do / A Day in the Life
- Meet for coffee with an ACCESS prospect to discuss how they can engage with AJC
- Work with lay leaders to plan a joint event with a Latino young professionals' organization
- Research current event topics to discuss with Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) students
- Train ACCESS leaders on how to engage in advocacy with elected officials

The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $52,000, depending on relevant experience.
