AJC’s Campus Affairs department supports Jewish university students and their allies across the globe. By facilitating lasting coalitions, practicing effective advocacy and messaging, and crafting meaningful educational experiences, AJC Campus Affairs is working to build a more secure, open, and positive campus environment.
The Assistant Director, Campus Affairs will assist in the implementation of AJC’s student-facing initiatives on college campuses. The Assistant Director, Campus Affairs will assist the Director, Campus Affairs in partnership with the Alexander Young Leadership Department (AYL), the Department of Regional Offices (DRO), and the Department of Contemporary Jewish Life (CJL), to expand AJC’s efforts on campus to address growing antisemitism and anti-Israel rhetoric experienced by university students.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to the Director, Campus Affairs and help implement AJC’s overall student facing strategy.
- Work with the Director of Campus Affairs to recruit for and execute AJC’s existing campus initiatives: Campus Global Board, Campus Track at Global Forum, and Goldman Fellowship.
- Assist with crisis response for incidents reported by Jewish students, verify reported incidents, and work closely with the Director of Campus Affairs, AJC Director of Academic Affairs, and Regional Offices to ensure AJC’s response and overall campus initiatives are impactful, timely, and effective.
- Create relevant educational resources and materials for Jewish students, social media, AJC lay leadership and outside partners.
- Cultivate relationships with AJC Leaders For Tomorrow (LFT) alumni and create programming specifically for this unique AJC stakeholder group.
- Assist in maintaining AJC’s relationships with campus partners i.e.; Hillel International, Chabad, and Israel on Campus Coalition (ICC), among others.
- Represent AJC in speaking engagements both on college campuses and virtually.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of, and a strong commitment to Jewish issues, the climate on college campuses today, and the objectives of AJC. The ideal candidate will be organized and diligent, comfortable with public speaking, and able to engage with both students and administrators.
Specifically, the finalist will meet the following criteria:
- Undergraduate degree required.
- 5-7 years of professional experience.
- Advocacy experience strongly preferred.
- Goal-oriented strategist who can accomplish multiple tasks at once and can execute on existing strategies and tasks delegated to them.
- Self-starter who can work independently and collaborate with professional colleagues, university students and administration, and lay leadership
- Flexible, creative, and strategic thinker able to develop new ways to engage potential and existing donors and campus leaders.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Problem solving ability.
- Team player as well as able to work independently.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Flexibility with schedule (occasional morning, evening, and weekends).
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge, Luminate, Microsoft Office (or is a proven quick learner).
- Able to enthusiastically support and promote AJC’s mission and values.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000, depending on relevant experience.
