Assistant Director, Development Communications

AJC seeks a skilled development communications professional to serve as Assistant Director, Development Communications on our National Resource Development team. Working with a Senior Development Director, the Assistant Director, Development Communications will help to communicate AJC’s message and impact to donor and staff audiences. The Assistant Director, Development Communications must be an excellent written communicator with a passion for helping the Jewish people.

Responsibilities:
Spearhead Major Development Communications Projects
- Write and project manage major donor communications and marketing pieces, including AJC’s annual Donor Recognition Societies book.
- Conceive of new marketing pieces for donor audiences.
- Work closely with AJC’s Marketing & Communications department, including AJC’s Graphics team, on design elements.
Help Craft Development Messaging
- Create messaging documents for Development staff to use in all donor communications, including talking points, impact stories, and advocacy successes
Draft speeches for major fundraising events
Create email templates for Development staff use
- Support Donor Engagement and Marketing & Communications teams with creative writing projects (i.e. donor stories, donor ads, gift announcements, etc.) when needed
Synthesize examples of AJC impact for staff to share with donor audiences
- Work collaboratively with Donor Engagement and Marketing & Communications teams to ensure library of development-related materials remains current and is shared in a timely manner
Assist with Donor Stewardship
Oversee the compilation of annual AJC institute reports
Assist with stewardship reports to major donors
Draft major gift donor acknowledgment letters, as needed
Additional Duties
- Contribute creatively by helping to conceive and launch new development initiatives.
- Staff task forces that are established from time to time.
- Assist in the planning and execution of National AJC programs and activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, or development.
- Exceptional communication skills required, including writing, editing, and proofreading.
- Must be an exceptional storyteller.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and practically, to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously, to work effectively under pressure, and to follow through on agreed-upon timelines.
- Solid grasp of AJC’s issue areas.
- Command of Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
- Top-notch organizational skills with an ability to execute time-sensitive tasks
- Optimistic and positive attitude
- A team player who takes pride in their work
- Work in office with the team at least two days a week (or as needed based on calendar).

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000, depending on relevant expereince.
