The AJC Global Forum 2024 Closing Plenary featured AJC’s signature Global Forum session, the Great Debate. Halie Soifer, CEO of the Jewish Democratic Council of America, and Morgan Ortagus, founder of POLARIS National Security and former Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, engaged in a debate on the 2024 presidential election and its impact on the global Jewish community, Israel, and the future of democracy. We heard from U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in conversation with AJC CEO Ted Deutch and inspiring addresses from Representatives Ritchie Torres, Brad Schneider, and Cathy McMorris Rodgers, friends and champions of the Jewish community and Israel. Then, AJC CEO Ted Deutch delivered his annual call to action, announcing the creation of the AJC Center for a New Middle East, which will seek to advance Israel’s place in the Middle East, North Africa, and beyond, as well as, the establishment of the Center for Education Advocacy, amid the massive surge in anti-Zionist and antisemitic incidents at colleges and K-12 schools around the country. The plenary closed with a special live appearance by world-famous singer/songwriter Matisyahu.
