AJC applauds passage of a resolution by Stanford University’s Student Senate (ASSU) to “Recognize and to Reaffirm the Fight Against Antisemitism.”

The resolution, proposed by Student Senator Molly Horwitz, who last year experienced antisemitism when she ran for office, commits the ASSU “to actively fighting antisemitism on campus.” It enjoyed support from a broad spectrum of the Jewish community on campus. In prior discussion of the resolution, Senator Gabriel Knight opposed the statement, arguing that debating Jewish control of the “media, economy, government and other societal institutions” was “a very valid discussion.”

“The Jewish community and its allies across the Stanford community are determined to state in no uncertain terms that antisemitism does not have a place on Stanford’s – or any other – campus,” said Sarah Persitz, director of AJC’s San Francisco Region. “It’s important for the campus community to continue to educate itself about antisemitism and to root out all forms of bigotry and hatred wherever and whenever they occur.”
