In honor of the 75th anniversary of Israel's rebirth, AJC Global Forum—the premier annual global Jewish advocacy event—returned to Israel, convening for the first time in Tel Aviv. The plenary on the second day featured a conversation with Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, as well as a video address from Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita. We also heard moving testimony from two Ukrainian refugees who fled to Israel following Russia’s unprovoked invasion in a live recording of AJC’s People of the Pod podcast.

And in a special presentation, seven of the world’s leading antisemitism envoys received the inaugural AJC David Harris Award, named for our longtime former CEO. The award is given for exemplary leadership and moral courage in the global fight against antisemitism. As AJC President Michael Tichnor reminded us in his remarks about David, it was AJC that first sounded the alarm about resurgent antisemitism in Europe more than two decades ago. Since then, AJC has never let up in our efforts to combat it, and we have made major strides in convincing governments of their responsibility to act. The newly launched U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism is just one such example.

AJC played a key role in bringing this national action plan to fruition. And in a powerful conclusion to the award ceremony, AJC CEO Ted Deutch took the stage to make an exciting announcement—that AJC would be launching a new task force that would focus exclusively on ensuring that the items outlined in the National Strategy are implemented within the timelines set by the White House
