AJC applauds the U.S. Congress for passing, and President Obama for signing into law the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA)—a landmark bill that paves the way for the largest trade pact in U.S. history, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)—which includes an important anti-BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) provision.

AJC, the global Jewish advocacy organization, is active through its Asia Pacific Institute in strengthening ties to countries in the region.

Under the TPA, the United States will discourage its trading partners from taking actions that could prejudice or discourage commercial activity between the United States and Israel, and seek the elimination of state-sponsored boycotts against Israel and an end to compliance with the Arab League boycott of Israel.

“It is essential that the United States—and other countries—stand firm against the BDS movement’s vicious and counterproductive efforts to delegitimize the state of Israel” said Richard Foltin, AJC Director of National and Legislative Affairs.
