Ira Forman speaking at AJC LA 74th Kaufman Family Annual Meeting

On May 9, 2019, AJC Los Angeles held its 74th Kaufman Family Annual Meeting in Century City, Los Angeles. Fredrick Levin, Past President and AJC LA Nominating Committee Chair announced the new slate of officers and board, including Scott Edelman as Regional President for a 4th year.

Edelman discussed our major accomplishments over the past year, as well as our advocacy plans forward. “We live in a world where antisemitism, bigotry, extremism, and terrorism continue to plague humanity, and we must work to change that world,” said Edelman. “We believe that the strength of our nation derives in large measure from its rich tapestry of racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. The Jewish people are most free and secure when all are free and secure.”

Acting Consul General of Israel Eitan Weiss delivered remarks in which he thanks AJC for its critical work to support the U.S.-Israel relationship.

AJC LA Vice President Marcie Goldstein introduced the keynote speaker, Ira Forman, who delivered the Neil Sandberg Memorial Lecture. Forman, the former U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, discussed the sources of antisemitism in the world today – and the strategies we must employ to push back against this scourge.
