On June 11, 2020, AJC held it’s 27th Annual George and Shirley M. Szabad Awards Ceremony. These prestigious awards identify and highlight the most innovative and impactful programming throughout AJC’s 22 Regional Offices. We are thrilled to share that AJC Los Angeles received two of the three Szabad Awards!

AJC LA took home the Szabad Award for “Outstanding Overall Program” for our project on “Hezbollah’s Expanding Reach: Eliminationist Antisemitism and Illicit Networks Across Continents,” and "Debating the Hezbollah Problem in Europe.” For the general public, we partnered with the Consulate General of Romania and Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) to raise awareness of Hezbollah’s growing global footprint. Nearly 150 people attended this event, hosted by Wilshire Boulevard Temple. And for European diplomats, we convened a private program for EU Consuls General.

The Los Angeles and San Francisco Offices jointly received the Szabad Award for “Outstanding Program in Advocacy” for the defeat of several anti-Israel resolutions proposed in the California Democratic Party platform last October. The judges particularly appreciated the example that both offices set by combining forces to demonstrate that we are stronger together. Congrats to our amazing team!!
