AJC New England condemns the desecration of the New England Holocaust Memorial — a reminder that in the face of hate, we can never again stand idly by. We are grateful to the Boston Police Department for their prompt response and are confident that justice will be done.

AJC New England President Jonathan Dorfman and Director Robert Leikind noted that, “For more than two decades, people from around the world have passed through this Memorial and embraced its call for respect and tolerance. Today’s sad event does not change this. Rather, it is an urgent reminder that we all rededicate ourselves to the ideals that this Memorial embodies.”

This morning, hundreds of people gathered at the New England Holocaust Memorial and demonstrated that our community speaks with one voice in condemning this act and affirming the unique role the Memorial plays in our community.

Founded in 1906, AJC is the global Jewish advocacy organization dedicated to combatting global antisemitism and bigotry, advancing Israel’s pursuit of peace and security and promoting democratic values.
