AJC New England is beginning a new section highlighting our leadership board members! For the first part in the series, we are thrilled to spotlight our newest board member, Jim Eisenberg, from Lexington, MA.

For Jim, AJC is a family affair. His father, Chuck Eisenberg, has been a long-time supporter and serves on AJC New England’s Global Advocacy Circle. When friends of the Eisenberg family, who are also active with AJC, suggested that he become involved, Jim jumped at the opportunity.

Jim says that he was looking for a Jewish organization where he felt he could make an impact. “Knowing the good folks on the board and having a couple of conversations with Rob [Leikind] and other folks, it sounded like a good fit.”  Jim joined AJC’s Global Advocacy Circle and became active in a range of advocacy projects. He explained that this led him to an appreciation for AJC’s “innate ability to understand both sides of an issue” and effectively engage complex nuanced issues impacting our community and the Jewish world.

Jim’s talents were quickly recognized. This led to him becoming Chair of AJC New England’s Legislative Taskforce. In this role, he has urged that AJC New England focus its regional priorities so it can better communicate areas of subject matter expertise and become better positioned to highlight key issues facing the Jewish community.

Jim’s strategic leadership generated important results, and this past June he was voted in to join AJC New England’s Regional Board. According to AJC New England regional director Rob Leikind, “Jim Eisenberg is an immensely talented and interested member of our leadership team. He shows up, does the work, and has earned the respect of all those who have worked with him. There is no doubt that his efforts have helped AJC to effectively address very important challenges in the fight against antisemitism in our region.”

Jim is a policy advisor for Preti Strategies. Before joining Preti, he worked in the Massachusetts State House for almost 20 years, with nine of those years spent as the Chief of Staff to former House Speaker Robert DeLeo.

Jim is married to Tara Eisenberg. They have three daughters, aged nine, 12, and 14. On weekends, he is busy cheering his girls on in their various sports activities. And, when he can, he loves to spend time vacationing in New Hampshire. AJC New England is proud to have Jim Eisenberg among its exceptional leadership team.
