AJC New England thanks Governor Healey for signing into law sections 106 and 201 of the FY25 Massachusetts budget. They will establish a Special Commission for Addressing Antisemitism, and prompt the creation of curricula, resources, and professional development opportunities to support antisemitism education.

Since October 7th, antisemitism has skyrocketed across the country and continues to spread through our Massachusetts communities and institutions. Schools have posed a special area of concern, as efforts continue to inject anti-Israel and anti-Jewish content into curricula. In a strong demonstration of leadership and support for the Jewish community, several Massachusetts legislators took initiative to ensure Massachusetts confronts this dangerous hate.

“In this moment of crisis for the Jewish community, we are immensely grateful for the leadership of Senators John Velis, Cynthia Creem, Rebecca Rausch, Jason Lewis, and others who proposed this important legislation, and to all the representatives who came together to ensure its passage. We are also grateful to Governor Healey for once again taking a stand against antisemitism,” said AJC New England Regional President Jerry Cohen and Director Rob Leikind.

AJC looks forward to supporting the resulting efforts to address antisemitism and welcomes the opportunity to serve as an active partner.
