AJC Partners with Greek and Israeli Consulates for Screening of ‘Life Will Smile’

AJC Los Angeles partnered with the Consulates of Greece and Israel in Los Angeles and UCLA Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for the Study of Hellenic Culture for a screening of Life Will Smile. The documentary is about the noble people of Zakynthos, Greece, who risked their lives to save their Jewish community, which otherwise would have been murdered in Nazi camps like other Greek Jews.

AJC LA Assistant Director Siamak Kordestani delivered remarks in which he said, “The heroes of Zakynthos who saved their Jewish community were a ray of light during a dark, evil era… Few if any nations resisted the Axis more vehemently than the Greek people, particularly in Crete, and their sacrifices should never be forgotten.”.
