AJC Chicago praised the Chicago police department for apprehending a suspect who vandalized the Loop Synagogue early Saturday morning.

The 31-year-old man has been charged with one felony count of hate crime to a church or synagogue. A synagogue window was smashed and swastikas left on the front entrance.

"This act of antisemitism was meant to threaten the community, but it brought together the Muslim, Christian, and Jewish communities with a renewed purpose to stand together against such hate,” said AJC Chicago Director Amy Stoken. “Our community has been heartened by the overwhelming show of solidarity and we will continue to stand together with the understanding that no one community is safe unless all communities are safe.”
