A heinous attack in the heart of Tel Aviv has resulted in two fatalities and at least seven people wounded, several in critical condition.

"Given the descriptions so far of what happened, this has all the appearances of a terrorist assault," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "If so, it would follow the spree of brutal attacks on Israelis in recent months, including knife attacks and car rammings."

"First and foremost, our hearts go out to the families of the two murdered people," Harris continued. "We pray for the full recovery of those injured. We count on the authorities to apprehend the culprit(s) at the earliest possible moment. And we urge the international community to follow events closely and not hesitate to speak up loudly and unambiguously if, indeed, this proves to be an act of terrorism."

"As always, AJC stands with the courageous people of Israel in their long-standing battle against such deadly violence, and in their quest for enduring peace and calm," Harris concluded.
