AJC Seattle Statement in Response to Anti-Israel Tech Rally
The labeling of Israel as an apartheid state is false and salacious. Israel is a democracy, whose Arab citizens and minorities have full rights, including the right to vote and serve in the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. Arabs hold highly regarded positions in academia, medicine, and law. A Muslim Arab judge sits on Israel’s Supreme Court.
We are proud of our region as a global leader in the technology sector. Israel is renowned as a world leader for the number of start-ups per capita it generates. Deploying advanced machine-learning and AI tools is an important step in Israel’s digital transformation. We celebrate the outcomes of collaborative efforts between Israeli companies and West Coast based companies like Amazon and Google. We are grateful for the role these collaborations play in supporting America’s national security and strategic relationships in the Middle East.
