American Jewish Committee (AJC) is deeply concerned about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. Several hundred are reported dead or missing and tens of thousands of people have now fled. We urge an end to violence, continued negotiation on reintegration, and protection of the security and rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. The safety of civilians living in the territory or wishing to leave is paramount, and we hope that Azerbaijan, together with the European Union, the United States, and other countries, will work to address the humanitarian crisis by ensuring that freedom of movement and access to basic goods and services are protected. We urge Azerbaijan and Armenia to get back to the negotiating table to reach a comprehensive peace agreement.

AJC is the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people. With headquarters in New York City, 25 offices across the United States, and 14 overseas posts, as well as partnerships with 38 Jewish community organizations worldwide, AJC's mission is to enhance the well-being of the Jewish people and Israel, and to advance human rights and democratic values in the United States and around the world.
