In November, AJC’s Asia Pacific Institute organized a discussion on cross border relationships in technology and innovation with the respected Chinese Committee of 100.
Our speakers were Ambassador Gary Locke, former Congressman Don Bonker, Aurora Zecher (title); the moderator was and Director of the Asia Pacific Institute Shira Loewenberg.
We were reminded by Ambassador Gary Locke of the incredible economic progress that China has made in the past several decades as well as its increasing cooperation with, and investment into, Israeli technology companies.
During the panel discussion, Congressman Bonker and Ms. Zecher spoke to the sometimes-complicated relationships between China and the US as well as the part that Israel plays in advancing technological innovations.
AJC, through its Asia Pacific Institute engages with countries in the Asia Pacific bringing awareness of Israel and the Jewish people, and promoting American leadership and democratic values in the world in a multitude of ways – programs, events, speaking tours, meetings, missions.. AJC is an organization that is built on relationships – institutional and individual – and it is on relationships that we rely in building alliances and assembling coalitions, establishing channels of communication and discussion and engendering understanding and good will. API furthers this work throughout the Asia Pacific . AJC regularly meets with the highest levels of governments including prime ministers, foreign ministers , security advisers , think tanks , ambassadors . During our trips to China , we have met with the Foreign Minister of China .
The relationship between US and China has been called the most important bilateral relationship in the world and its increasing complexity and challenges need to be carefully managed and understood. Israel , being a staunch ally of the USA and being actively engaged with China has to manage the relationship cautiously given China’s voracious need for innovation of which Israel is a key destination .
API has regularly engages with the C100 holding regular programs across the USA on Chinese American and Jewish relationships as well as the trilateral relationship between USA/Israel and China
In partnership with the Committee of 100.
