2019-03-17 LFT meeting with German Consul General

Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) high school students met with the Stefan Schneider, Consul General of Germany in Los Angeles for their final LFT session on March 17. The Consul General discussed his career in the German Foreign Ministry, issues of antisemitism and Holocaust remembrance in Europe, immigration, and the refugee situation in his country. The students also met with Jason Isaacson, AJC’s Chief Policy and Political Affairs Officer to learn about AJC’s critical advocacy in the Middle Easy and the changes we have seen recently in the Arab world vis-a-vis Israel.

In its inaugural year, AJC Los Angeles LFT had a robust cohort of over 25 students from high schools across the city. They had been meeting once a month at AJC to learn about Jewish history, the Arab-Israeli conflict, what it means to be Jewish around the world, combating antisemitism, and many other informative and pressing issues to be better equipped for college and for life. AJC LA is gearing up for its second LFT cohort to begin next fall, and applications are now open.
