AJC Jerusalem Director Lt. Col. (Res.) Avital Leibovich provides important security updates from Israel’s northern border on Day 7. Hamas fired a long-range rocket that targeted northern Israel, which was intercepted by Israel’s David’s Sling air defense system. Avital also shared a personal story from Ruth, a Holocaust survivor from Kibbutz Be’eri, where Hamas terrorists murdered over 100 Israelis last Saturday. Several members of Ruth’s family, including children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were taken hostage by Hamas. As the daughter of Holocaust survivors, Avital describes how Ruth’s search for her family reminds her of the post-war period where many Holocaust survivors searched for their loved ones.
