E. Robert Goodkind Fellowship
New York, NY
AJC’s Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights (JBI) is inviting applications for the E. Robert Goodkind Fellowship, a six-month fellowship that will begin in February 2018, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funding. The Fellowship honors the legacy of Bob Goodkind, former Chair of JBI’s Administrative Council.
Responsibilities of the Fellow will be to conduct research on human rights issues and key United Nations human rights experts and bodies, and to prepare research memoranda, analyses and other written materials as assigned. The Fellow will work 4 to 5 days a week at a maximum of 28 hours a week from JBI’s office in New York, with the possibility of short-term travel as needed.
JBI conducts and supports original research and policy analysis on central issues in the field of international human rights. This work is primarily directed at improving the protection of international human rights through the mechanisms and bodies of the United Nations and other international organizations, though the policies of individual governments also are a focus of JBI activities. The primary subjects of JBI’s programming include human rights mechanisms and institutions; religious intolerance, including antisemitic acts; genocide prevention; the prohibition of torture; human rights defenders; and the human rights of women.
Applicants must have a law degree or Master’s degree in human rights or a related subject as well as experience in the field of human rights. Preference will be given to applicants who have had coursework or prior work experience focusing specifically on international human rights organizations and/or religious intolerance, including monitoring and combating antisemitism.
Applicants selected for interviews will be contacted. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Competitive salary.
