Rabbi Jacob Rothschild and Martin Luther King, Jr. worked together during the Civil Rights era to build effective partnerships between the Atlanta Jewish and black communities. Their work laid the foundations for future collaborations between the two communities on issues such as mass incarceration and criminal justice reform. In 1982, Atlanta’s Jewish and black leaders came together, leading to the formation of the Atlanta Black-Jewish Coalition.
