American Jewish Committee (AJC), in coordination with Israeli Flying Aid (IFA), is providing tents for thousands of people in Chad who have lost their homes in massive floods.
A Chad military cargo plane arrived in Israel early this morning to pick up the tents and other humanitarian aid. Dozens of boxes labeled AJC were loaded onto the Chad aircraft.
AJC, the leading global Jewish advocacy organization, has for decades responded to humanitarian crises and disasters around the world. Israeli Flying Aid is one of AJC’s Israeli partners for humanitarian aid.
Chad, a Muslim-majority African nation, reestablished diplomatic relations with Israel in 2019. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Chad in January 2019, following Chad President Idriss Deby’s trip to Israel in November 2018.
