American Jewish Committee to Spotlight Entrepreneurship at Miami-Israel Innovation Conference
NORTH MIAMI— South Florida and Israel are closer than many people think – at least when it comes to business innovation and collaboration.
How those partnerships have fared and what future collaborations lie ahead will be the focus of the Miami-Israel Innovation Conference, Nov. 17 at Florida International University. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will be among the featured speakers.
The conference will spotlight the power of entrepreneurship and successful collaborations between companies in South Florida and Israel in the areas of agriculture, water resources, climate technology, smart cities and healthcare. The full program is here.
Some of the participants are alumni of Project Interchange, an educational institute of American Jewish Committee, the leading global Jewish advocacy organization. Project Interchange takes government officials, educators, business leaders and others to Israel to learn about the diversity, reality and complexity of the Jewish State.
“Over the past seven years we have taken over 60 innovators, investors and entrepreneurs from the Miami community to Israel to learn from–and connect with–the country’s thriving tech and innovation sector,” said Brian Siegal, director of AJC Miami, which is sponsoring the conference along with FIU and the Consulate General of Israel in Miami. “This conference brings these unique ideas and experiences to leaders in South Florida and beyond.”
Among the Project Interchange alumni expected to take part in the conference are leading experts in entrepreneurship and innovation, including:
- Emily Gresham, Assistant Vice President for Research - Innovation and Economic Development, Florida International University
- Matt Haggman, Executive Vice President, Miami-Dade Beacon Council, Opportunity Miami
- Raul Moas, Senior Director, Knight Foundation

The conference will be held Nov. 17 from 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at the Kovens Conference Center at Florida International University, Biscayne Bay Campus, 3000 Northeast 151st Street, North Miami.
