The American Jewish Committee (AJC) seeks a Director of Operations for its new Center for Education Advocacy. This senior leadership position is responsible for supporting the growth and operational effectiveness of the Center, establishing and implementing systems to monitor and track progress, and ensuring the Center delivers measurable results in its education advocacy efforts.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Act as support to the Director of the Center for Education Advocacy, providing strategic and operational support.
- Develop and implement metrics and project management systems to monitor and track the progress and effectiveness of the Center's initiatives.
- Create and execute strategic goals and objectives for the Center in collaboration with the Director.
- Provide conceptual, logistical, and organizational support for the Center's initiatives and activities.
- Create and implement strategies for improving efficiencies and streamlining the flow of information within the Center and with other AJC departments.
- Manage grant reporting processes and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
- Support leadership development initiatives within the Center and in collaboration with other AJC departments.
Specific Responsibilities:
Staff Management and Administration
- Provide leadership and oversight to Center staff as assigned.
- Enhance effective communication between individuals and departments.
- Foster cooperation and teamwork among staff by coordinating assignments, holding regular meetings, directing, coaching, and counseling, setting expectations, and providing performance feedback.
- Support strategic planning and implementation for the Center.
Operational Excellence
- Develop and maintain systems for tracking the Center's progress towards its goals.
- Analyze data and prepare reports on the Center's performance and impact.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Leadership Development
- Work with the Director to develop strategies to identify and cultivate future leaders within the education advocacy space.
- Assist in formulating effective, high-quality meetings, retreats, and orientations for staff and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to internal and external collaborators in education advocacy.
Qualifications:
- Graduate Degree preferred.
- 10+ years of non-profit management experience.
- Strong background in advocacy and operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial and growth mindset
- Ability to solve problems creatively and practically.
- Experience in developing and implementing performance metrics and tracking systems.
- Respect for and adherence to confidentiality is required.
- Team player as well as able to work independently.
- A collaborative approach to working with internal and external colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Familiarity with the Jewish organizational landscape a plus.
- Passion for education advocacy and the mission of AJC.
- Experience with grant reporting processes.
- Ability to travel as needed.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000, depending on relevant experience.
