We arrived in Paris, where UNESCO is headquartered, with 18 Jewish student leaders – half of whom were Americans studying abroad in Europe, and half of whom hailed from across Europe and beyond.
Thank you for inviting me to join in this centenary celebration of the Balfour Declaration – a celebration of the practical wisdom of a war-time British Government, of the triumph of historical obligation over colonial expediency, of the long-delayed recognition of a people’s rightful inheritance.
On Tuesday, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing about antisemitism. At issue was whether the Department of Education should consult a comprehensive definition of antisemitism when addressing Jewish students’ complaints of harassment on college campuses, and whether Congress should instruct the Department of Ed to do so.
