Exactly 110 years ago tomorrow, on November 11, 1906, 31 individuals, including such noted American Jews as Cyrus Adler, Louis Marshall, Jacob Schiff, and Mayer Sulzberger, gathered at the Hotel Savoy in New York, following six previous exploratory meetings earlier that year. They officially formed the American Jewish Committee (AJC).

As has been the case for over a hundred years, women around the world will take to the streets this March 8th to draw attention to their rights and the gender discrimination that still exists. Even if women's demands vary greatly across the globe due to their respective realities, it has so far been assumed that the rejection of misogynistic violence unites everyone.

In his State of the Union address, President Joe Biden is expected to highlight key accomplishments during his first term in office and make the case for his re-election. While many domestic issues will take center stage, the ongoing Israel-Hamas war will likely be a topic addressed by the president. In the audience will be the families of Americans held captive or murdered by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023.

In a post-October 7th world, a time when Jews across the globe feel isolated due to the unprecedented spike in antisemitic hatred, coming together as a people is more important than ever. AJC San Diego hosted a Symposium in February 2024 to address this community need, which I find important as a college student dealing with antisemitism on my campus.

AJC San Diego was delighted to welcome Dina Siegel Vann, the Director of the AJC Arthur and Rochelle Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs in Washington, D.C., for a visit in January 2024. Dina led a series of programs, including a briefing for the Latino Jewish community in San Diego on AJC’s work, and the community shared its unique perspectives and experiences with Dina.
