AJC, the global Jewish advocacy organization, applauded the U.S. Senate for passing a bipartisan plan to codify existing Russian sanctions and require the President to obtain congressional approval to waive or remove any sanctions against Russia.
AJC welcomed Secretary of State Tillerson’s comments today that the Palestinian Authority, responding to U.S. pressure, will end its longstanding practice of financially rewarding terrorists and their families.
AJC, at its Global Forum, presented the Unity Award to three religious leaders -- Rabbi Dov Haiyun, Amir Muhammad Sharif Ode, and Father Yousef Yakoub – for their extraordinary demonstration of brotherhood in response to the devastating forest fires in Haifa, Israel, in November 2016 that left 70,000 people homeless.
Addressing the AJC Global Forum, Gilad Erdan, Israel’s Minister of Public Security and Strategic Affairs, called for an international alliance of Israel, moderate Arab states, the U.S., Europe, “and all likeminded countries” to create “an international alliance to fight terror.”
AJC presented its Moral Courage Award to B.G. Willison, an American citizen who rescued Lea Kovensky, a survivor of the devastating 1992 bombing of the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as well as other injured victims.
