AJC LA Director Rick Hirschhaut joined Board Members Ira Handelman and Bob Horning for a series of Capitol Hill meetings including the inaugural reception of the Congressional Black Jewish Caucus. The Caucus, the first of its kind, was launched at the AJC Global Forum in June. The AJC delegation met with Rep. Kim Scheir as well as Rep. Adam Schiff's Chief of Staff.
AJC’s Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) joined forces with the Mayor’s Youth Council for a "Day of Action against Antisemitism and Hate." These high school students discussed best practices to report hate speech and hate crimes from Sergeant Mike Abdeen, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Then they witnessed the proverbial “light at the end of the tunnel” when former neo-Nazi Tim Zaal shared a deeply moving, personal story about how someone can overcome hate.
