American Jewish Committee (AJC) and the Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC) welcomed today’s introduction of the “Eastern Mediterranean Security and Partnership Act” by Senators Robert Menendez (D-New Jersey) and Marco Rubio (R-Florida).
AJC praised Vilnius Mayor Remigijus Šimašius for removing a plaque on the Lithuanian Academy of Science building honoring Jonas Noreika, an anti-Soviet fighter who was responsible for the deportation of Šiauliai Jews and seizure of their property during the Holocaust.
Dina Siegel Vann, Director of AJC’s Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs (BILLA), urged members of the leading coalition of Latino organizations to step up its cooperation and joint advocacy activity with the Jewish community.
Back in the late 1970s and through the 1980s, Jewish Atlanta saw a new generation of communal professionals emerge. Now another set of leaders in their 30s and early 40s is stepping up to guide the community into the future.
