AJC Cleveland connects our community with American Jewish Committee’s global advocacy work to enhance the well-being of the Jewish people and Israel. Our access to diplomats, elected officials, and interfaith leaders at the local level advances AJC’s broader global priorities: combating antisemitism, promoting Israel’s place in the world, and countering the spread of radicalism and extremism.
Our impact extends well beyond the Cleveland community, helping AJC achieve tangible results in the form of government policies, formidable alliances, and hard-hitting legislation that make our world safer and more secure.
For over 75 years, AJC Cleveland has been a thought leader, convener, and unifying voice, providing a unique and trusted perspective in Northeast Ohio.
In the spring, AJC’s Global Leadership Seder brings together members of Cleveland’s diplomatic and legislative delegations, as well as leaders from a wide array of faith and ethnic communities for an inspirational celebration of freedom. Each fall, Cleveland participates in AJC’s Midwest Diplomatic Marathon. And for more than 55 years, our Isaiah Award for Human Relations highlights a local nonprofit working to advance human relations and build intergroup understanding and respect.
Lee C. Shapiro was named regional director of AJC Cleveland in August 2007. Prior to joining AJC, Shapiro was director of government and public affairs and communications for Adelphia Communications of Northern Ohio.
