The plenary on the second day of AJC Global Forum 2023, featured a conversation with Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, as well as a video address from Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita. We also heard moving testimony from two Ukrainian refugees who fled to Israel following Russia’s unprovoked invasion. And in a special presentation, seven of the world’s leading antisemitism envoys received the inaugural AJC David Harris Award, named for our longtime former CEO, and AJC CEO Ted Deutch made an exciting announcement.

With antisemitism on the rise worldwide, several countries have initiated national strategies to confront this age-old hatred. In The Leonard Greenberg Forum for Domestic Policy Issues, moderated by Holly Huffnagle, AJC U.S. Director for Combating Antisemitism, seven distinguished international antisemitism envoys joined the conversation on these critical issues.

In this session, moderated by Wayne Sussman, Director of the AJC Africa Institute, the experts discuss key issues surrounding Israel-Africa relations: the role of innovation and technology, demography, trade, and security, along with numerous opportunities for cooperation in areas such as agriculture, energy, healthcare, and more.

AJC bought $15,000 of the date honey to share with attendees at Global Forum, AJC’s annual international conference. The decision to invest in Building Together comes from years of engagement by AJC’s Business Collective, a board task force, led by Eli Ibrahimzade, committed to finding economic opportunities to promote greater regional engagement between Israel and the Arab world.

AJC CEO Ted Deutch was joined on stage by Israeli President Isaac Herzog during the opening plenary of AJC Global Forum 2023. Vice President Margaritis Schinas of the European Commission takes the stage at AJC Global Forum 2023 to address key issues such as antisemitism, the war in Ukraine, and EU-Israeli ties.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė delivered a compelling speech highlighting the importance of European relations with Israel, condemned Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, denounced Russia’s growing alliance with Iran, called for further EU sanctions targeting Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps, and maintaining democratic unity.
